How to register your brand in Amazon Brand Registry?

First: Check the requirements that Amazon requires

Before you can register your brand with the Amazon Brand Registry, you must ensure that your trademark is actively registered in each of the countries in which you would like to have a trademark application through Amazon IP Accelerator.

On the other hand, your trademark must also be in the form of a text-based mark (dominant) or an image-based mark with words, numbers, or letters (graphic mark). You should also keep in mind that depending on the place where you register your trademark, there may be different classifications of types of brand models.

Amazon also indicates that it only accepts marks that have been issued by government trademark agencies of the following countries: United States, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Australia, India, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Spain, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Poland, Egypt, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United Arab Emirates.

What should I do if my trademark is registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization?

If your trademark is registered with WIPO, you must send the trademark number assigned to you by the national trademark office, since this number may be different from the number assigned by WIPO

Does Amazon accept trademarks registered by the European Union Intellectual Property Office?

Yes, and to register your brand in the Amazon Brand Registry you only have to select EUIPO as trademark registrar when filling out your application.

Second: Log in to Amazon Brand Registry

If your brand meets the aforementioned requirements, you can enter your Amazon seller or vendor account to access the services and benefits of the Amazon Brand Registry.

Keep in mind that the only people authorized to carry out the trademark registration are the people who own the registered trademarks. In addition, they are the only ones who will be able to create additional accounts so that other people can access this platform. 

Third: Register your account

Now that you have logged in to your Amazon Seller or Amazon Vendor account, you will need to enroll your brand, but to do so you will need to provide the following information:

  • Your brand name and what is on your products or packaging.
  • Registration number of the trademark that has been provided by the intellectual property office.
  • List of the category of products that are associated with your brand.

After you submit this information, Amazon will review it and validate that the information is correct, as well as verify that you have the rights to the trademark. As part of the verification process, Amazon will contact the brand owner, who will receive a verification code. That code must then be sent back to Amazon in order to finish the registration process.
